Words & Fixtures is a writing, editing and marketing service, established by Sarah-Clare Conlon. “So beautifully put together” – one description of my copy.

I am a Manchester-based freelance communications expert with 20 years’ experience in the media and marketing sectors. I have written and edited for regional, national and international newspapers, magazines and websites; copyedited and proofread for best-selling authors and university presses; headed up print production for a UK-wide through-the-line marketing agency and project managed for large public sector and academic bodies; devised press and PR strategies for leading cultural organisations and independent businesses; developed digital marketing campaigns for a number of arts festivals and not-for-profit organisations; planned and promoted one-off events and a regular monthly live literature night; led popular creative writing workshops, and won awards both for my short stories and as the culture blogger Words & Fixtures.

In my “spare time”, I write for fun and perform internationally. I have a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester and have been published extensively online (links here) and also in print with Dostoyevsky Wannabe, Dunlin Press, Salt Publishing, the Universities of Greenwich and Manchester, and journals Flash, Lighthouse and Stand. I am also the inaugural Writer-in-Residence at Manchester’s Victoria Baths and I am on the Best British & Irish Flash Fiction 2018-2019 list.
